Nearly 50 million people around the world are impacted by some form of human trafficking, according to the International Labor Organization, suffering from forced labor, commercial sexual exploitation, or forced marriages. Industries such as domestic work, agriculture, and construction have historically been vulnerable to forced labor in the United States, while supply chains supporting the ever-growing tech industry continue to risk exposure to different iterations of compelled work.
