- Anytime, anywhere, Claims Outcome Advisor™ 3.0 makes e-claims a reality — enabling claims to be settled more quickly and at a lower cost
- Enables medical professionals to produce e-medicals and provide insurers with claims information directly
LONDON, Nov. 6, 2002 — Insurance Services Office (ISO), a leading provider of insurance claims services and information about property and liability risk, has launched the industry's first complete web-based personal injury claims management solution. The new Microsoft® .Net-ready Claims Outcome Advisor 3.0 enables claims handlers, managers and third parties, such as medical professionals, solicitors and rehabilitation providers, to manage information about personal injury claims via a secure web browser anytime, anywhere. This makes e-claims management possible for the first time, enabling insurers to speed up the claims life cycle, improve accuracy and ensure best practice on every claim.
The upgraded COA™ solution now enables medical professionals to produce e-medicals and directly enter information about the injury onto the system, so claims handlers don't have to interpret their medical reports and re-input the data. This will speed up claims management, make the process more accurate and help reduce fraudulent exaggeration of claims. COA version 3.0 also allows other third parties, such as solicitors, to access certain modules and monitor the progress of claims. Further enhancements to the solution enable managers to easily produce reports via the web and include a medical encyclopedia written especially for claims handlers.
"The industry has been waiting for some time for a solution that lets insurance companies really get to grips with personal injury claims," said Stuart Davies, claims director at Highway, an existing Claims Outcome Advisor customer. "By web-enabling the solution, COA is available anytime, anywhere. With ISO's ASP model, this means we don't have to worry about maintaining the system; it's always available through a web browser. We estimate that our initial installation of COA provided ROI within the first year of use, and these enhancements will provide additional functionality that will continue to help us provide claimants with fair and equitable settlements more effectively."
David Smart, business development director, ISO, said: "COA is the only solution on the market that is able to address claims from first notice of loss, so that they can be managed proactively to improve the eventual outcome. Offering this functionality on the web for access by any PC anywhere — and in the future, on any Internet-enabled device — makes COA an even stronger proposition. For example, in the near future, we could be seeing medical practitioners using COA via a PDA or Tablet PC to deliver a prognosis earlier in the claims life cycle, providing a faster, more accurate service for all involved."
COA version 3.0's management information functionality enables managers to produce reports via the web using a range of menus and hyperlinks and allows users to sort by category and export to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet at the touch of a button. The solution's enhanced medical encyclopedia provides claims handlers with detailed information, photographs and diagrams on thousands of injuries, treatments and complications to provide additional support in claims handling and help deliver best practice on every claim. As a web-based application, COA version 3.0 allows systems administrators to add new users, so insurance companies can be more flexible in deploying their personal injury claims management team.
