Critical GHS Content Strengthens 3E’s Suite of Innovative SAP EHS Management Solutions
Carlsbad, Calif., October 15, 2012 — 3E Company, a leading provider of EH&S compliance and information management services, today announced that it has extended its Ariel Expert Rules Set to facilitate conformance with the United States’ Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard 2012 (HazComm 2012), which aligns with the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System for the Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The expanded rules set brings users a powerful solution that streamlines the authoring of HazComm 2012–compliant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documents in SAP® Environmental Health and Safety Management (EHSM), saving valuable time and improving the quality and currency of authored documents.
The latest release of Ariel Expert Rules features:
- a new OSHA GHS classification rule group, which determines the overall classification and labeling requirements for a chemical mixture, according to OSHA’s implementation of GHS;
- classification for additional hazard categories defined by OSHA as well as for hazards not otherwise classified (HNOC). The rules classify for pyrophoric gas, combustible dust, simple asphyxiants, static-accumulating flammable liquids, and water-reactive materials that produce toxic gases.
“3E Company has continually demonstrated a strong commitment to providing quality products and services designed specifically for integration with SAP EHSM. While OSHA’s HazComm 2012 certainly brings many challenges, our customers can be assured that we remain focused on providing the highest-quality and most comprehensive regulatory and scientific data available for SAP EHSM,” said Julia Tsvetkova, director of Ariel product management, 3E Company. “As new regulations and requirements emerge, our team of regulatory experts stands ready to develop the rules, content, phrases, and templates necessary to easily create conforming documents from within the SAP EHSM platform.”
Businesses around the globe use 3E’s Ariel Expert Rules Set to meet compliance requirements quickly and provide accurate documentation for products based on composition, classification, use, and distribution. The rules set can also be combined with other Ariel SAP EHSM solutions for operational productivity. In particular, bundling the rules with Ariel regulatory content, phrases, and templates offers many distinct advantages, including increased efficiency and the ability to create local-language SDSs in just about any jurisdiction.
