Rob Newbold is president of Extreme Event Solutions at Verisk. He’s responsible for setting global strategy and overseeing worldwide operations for the business, which includes Verisk AER and Verisk Maplecroft.
Rob has extensive experience working with insurance industry leaders globally to better understand how they manage risk and identify ways to use analytics to improve catastrophe risk management.
Since joining Verisk in 2002 as a risk consultant, he’s held several roles of increasing responsibility and has been integral to the business’s growth during his tenure. In the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, when the 144A property catastrophe bond market grew steadily, he built and led the team that continues to serve as the global standard for catastrophe bond risk assessment. Prior to his appointment as president, Rob served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Extreme Event Solutions.
Rob holds an MBA and an MS in information systems, both from Boston University’s Graduate School of Management, and a BS in systems engineering from the University of Virginia. He's achieved the designation of Certified Extreme Event Modeler (CEEM) after completing the requirements of the Verisk Certified Extreme Event Modeler Program.
Outside of work, Rob spends his time coaching youth sports in his community and chasing the automatic qualifying time for the Boston Marathon.
