Kathlyn Card Beckles is Verisk’s chief legal officer and corporate secretary, providing leadership for all legal aspects of the business, as well as leading corporate governance, compliance, and internal audit.
Kathy assists the company and its Board of Directors in driving Verisk’s strategy forward and pursuing all the best practices of a modern, well-run public company to maximize performance and ensure transparency.
Before joining Verisk, Kathy served as the General Counsel for Consumer Banking and Shared Services at JPMorgan Chase. Previously she led the company’s Card team, served as chief intellectual property (IP) counsel, and managed matters from IP litigation to entertainment and philanthropic sponsorships.
Her prior legal experience includes Kenyon & Kenyon, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the Chambers of the Hon. Edward Damich of the Court of Federal Claims. Before that, Kathy honed her operational and strategic problem-solving skills in analytical chemistry and process engineering positions.
Kathy’s many awards include Trailblazer Under 40 from the National Bar Association, Corporate Counsel of the Year from the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, and Black Achiever in Industry from the YMCA. In 2022, she was elected to the Board of Directors of Nasdaq’s U.S. exchange subsidiaries.
She holds a JD with honors from The George Washington University Law School and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.
Kathy is a board member and founder of the TEHEKA engineering scholarship at the University of Delaware and a board member of Mobilization for Justice, which offers free legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers.
